Valentine's Day Ideas

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. You might be wondering how to choose the right gift for your spouse or significant orther. Finding the right gift for the person you live might be difficult if you are without money or time.

Here are some good tips to buy gifts for one you love:

1.Choose a personal gift; Think about what your spouse or significant other will really enjoy. Think about some things your partner has mentioned of buying in the recent days. Try choosing something that will surprise your spouse. A personal hand made valentine's day card with your gift will be more appreciated than a commercial card by your spouse.

2. Buy a gift that will remind him or her of you often; Remember that if you end up choosing a gift that will be used often, you will be remembered often. Take a keychain for example. A key chain will be used often to every day and it will be a constant reminder of you.

3. Gifts don't need to be expensive. A diamond ring that you find too expensive, doesn't need to be the gift. A nice bunch of colorful tulips or roses can also be a good gift.

4. Try to think something unusual; This you plan on the day of Valentine's. Think of some ideas you have never done before. Spend some time and think of how to surprise your spouse.

A TIP TO REMEMBER: Do not wait until the last hour to buy any gifts. You may not be able to find the gift that you want or are trying to find. Stores sell out quickly.

Apart from all the materialistic gifts, there is one best gift; Your love, attention and affection. Spend some time together and keep the romance alive.

Valentine's Day Craft Ideas

Valentine's day is a time for romantics, lovers, and a general caring for others. So it's the perfect holiday to create a homemade gift to show that extra loving and personal touch. Nothing displays more heart-felt emotion than something created with your own hands.

There are mountains of crafts that can be created for any holiday, especially Valentine's day. Some use the common hearts, lips, candy, and cupids. Some use less common themes like animals, plants, and food. Whatever you're looking for, there are books, magazines, web sites, and craft stores filled with ideas and supplies.

For a simple craft idea that's great for kids, try some homemade cookies. Mix some basic sugar cookie dough or by some ready-to-bake cookie dough. Slice cookies and shape into hearts with cookie cutter or spoon. Bake and let cool. Add some icing or sprinkles as decoration and enjoy.

Create a Valentine's Day card using basic construction paper, doilies, and glue. Cut out two large, matching hearts from the paper, creating a front and back. Cut a slightly larger heart from the doily, this will slip into the middle. Use four strips of thin paper, and fold them like an accordion.

- Slip doily into middle of paper hearts, and add paper strips so they look like arms and legs. Glue everything together between the front and back papers, except for a small pocket at the top. Use beads, paints, or other craft items to make eyes, a nose, and a mouth. Slip small cards or candy into top of monsters head and enjoy.

Some other great ideas for kids are homemade cards, decorated shoe-box card container, heart shaped paper mobiles, beaded necklaces and bracelets, decorated Valentine's candy jars or cans, and construction paper heart collages.

Adults can make slightly fancier versions of kids crafts, having tons of fun and creating a wonderful looking item. But with adults, Valentine's day has more to do with romance than it does with general caring. So great creative crafts for adults should contain that romantic element.

A wonderfully romantic craft can be a luxurious frame for an adorable picture of a person, or the couple. Use cardboard, glue, and red velvet to make a heart-shaped, velvet covered photo frame. Or make a photo card, and give the picture frame a soft and elegant, close-able cover.

Jazz up a store bought gift by decorating the box or bag. Use paint, ribbons, beads, sequins, and fabric to make a heart-themed present package. Create an elaborate card and write a heart felt message or poem inside for a loved one.

Whip up some pretty, perfumed candles especially for the holiday. Use basic candle making methods, set wick and melt wax. Add some dark red to one batch of wax, pink to another, and leave one white. Sprinkle your favorite perfume, or an essential oil like rose or lilac, into the wax and mix.

- Pick a specific mold to make the candle with or just use a clean glass jar. Pour candle and let dry, then enjoy. For neat additional effects, add a tiny bit of glitter, dried flower petals, or differently colored wax into the wet edges of the candle, making sure to keep away from the wick.
